P.Eng

Jim Gallant has a degree in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia (1982) and has been developing, designing, constructing and operating innovative, energy recovery and electricity generation projects for many years. Jim is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) and has developed, designed and built a wide variety of very innovative projects:

  • Designed, permitted, constructed and operated Ontario’s first commercial medical waste incinerator in 1999-2002.
  • Developed and permitted Ontario’s first dedicated Specified Risk Material dead-stock rendering facility in Atwood, Ontario in 2002-2005.
  • Designed, fabricated and installed two large (4MWth), wood-chip gasification systems in a large greenhouse installation in Kingsville, 2008-2013.
  • Implemented two, 800kW natural gas fired CHP`s for two large greenhouse operations in Kingsville. These units required new, modern control systems and were deployed as the first, parallel-operation, load-displacement CHP’s in the Ontario greenhouse industry (no power purchase agreement necessary). 2014-2017
  • Designed and developed an Operations, Maintenance and Sustainability (OMS) software package, specifically for greenhouse operations and management. 2013-2016
  • Designed a patent-pending, small-scale year-round, controlled environment greenhouse that includes many advantageous and energy conservation features that facilitate cold-weather operation. 2014-Present
